Under fire Libyan Leader Muammar Gaddafi has donated the fee his son received from the London School of Economics for his controversial video link appearance at the college's Ralph Miliband Lectures.
Saif al-Gaddafi received a nominal 50 cent fee for his participation in the series of lectures, but he has decided to donate the money towards the cost of humanitarian efforts being carried out in his country in the wake of the anti government protests.
Saif's spokesman added :
"This kind gesture should be proof positive that our leader and his government ministers are totally committed to a peaceful solution to the current challenges being faced by our nation.
Although we categorically deny that any of our citizens have been hurt by government forces, we are still concerned that the maximum help and support is made available to anyone who has need of medical assistance.
Hence, the token donation by Said al-Gaddafi.
If any larger amount had been involved, that might well have been seen by outside parties as an admission of guilt ".
