HOLLYWOOD - Young teen idols Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber have just been signed to lend their voices to cartoon characters appearing on the new animated cartoon show titled, Socks The Cat.
The show is based loosely on President Bill Clinton's daughter Chelsea Clinton's pet cat "Socks."
"Socks" was the official White House cat from January of 1993 to January of 2001.
He was an American Shorthair that Chelsea had been given as a Christmas present by Cuban President Fidel Castro.
In the new show Selena will provide the voice of Chelsea Clinton and Justin Bieber will provide the voice of "Socks."
A spokesperson for the White House stated that White House records show that at the height of his popularity "Socks" was receiving about 650 letters a day, not only from America but from Canada, Mexico, Panama, Indonesia, Ethiopia, and Greenland as well.
"Socks" also has the distinction of being the most traveled White House pet in the history of White House pets. The "First Cat" traveled to such places as Russia, China, Zimbabwe, Chile, Iceland, and both Poles, the North one and the South one.
Sadly "Socks" was stolen from his White House backyard "Cat House" on January 29, 2001. White House Secret Service agents scoured an area measuring a radius of ten miles.
The next day the "First Lady" Hillary Clinton enlisted the assistance of The FBI. A total of 17 Federal Bureau of Investigation officers searched for "Socks" in three states but the "First Cat" never showed up.
Little Chelsea Clinton was heartbroken. Jennifer Flowers, a good friend of the Clinton family bought her a new cat named "Pussy Kitty" but Chelsea never felt the bond with "Pussy Kitty" that she had with "Socks."
The Jennifer Flowers that gave the cat to Chelsea is not to be confused with the Gennifer (with a "G") Flowers who reportedly knew Bill Clinton just as good as his own wife Hillary did if not better.
