Channel 5 bosses breathed a sigh of relief last night when CSI:Miami got back to basics.
As we reported yesterday, there were concerns that the US "procedural" was losing sight of what made it popular in the first place and that it was dabbling with science fiction.
But the latest episode showed a back-to-basics approach and featured some big names in the cast - Malcolm MacDowell, Michael Madsen and ZZ Top axeman, Billy Gibbons.
A C5 insider told us: "Phew! That's a relief!
"A bloody murder right up front and the Who hitting the beat after a Horatio Caine one-liner for the credits.. they were good signs.
"Caine going all the way to LA to clear a colleague's name and embarrasing a local police captain into the bargain... wow, he's really on the moral high ground. Brilliant.
"Madsen as a cocky ex-football pro and MacDowell being a complete arse - all good signs.
"And no tourist space flights. Thank you.
"But let's see what happens next. There have been promising developments before."
