The two greatest Argentine footballers of the last 30 years are set to record a song for the World Cup called El Futbol es Voler a Casa.
Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi will be accompanied by the lead singer of top Argentine pop group Relampago Semillas in an effort to inspire Argentina to win the World Cup for the first time in 24 years.
The song will make references to great players throughout the history of Argentina's participation in the World Cup including lines such as:
'Pero aun asi veo que abordan por Dan' (Daniel Passarella)
'Cuando Mario Anoto' (Mario Kempes)
'Ossie bandas la bola' (Oswaldo Ardiles)
'Gabby Y Baila' (Gabriel Batistuta)
The accompanying video is set to take a humorous look at Argentina's biggest foes throughout the history of the World Cup including a scene where a number of players are stood in a wall with the name 'Beckham' written on each of their backs. The joke may be lost on most countries throughout the world but in Argentina the word 'beckham' is a derogatory term for the female genitalia.
Maradona and Messi will perform the song live on the BBC's flagship topical magazine programme, The One Show at the end of May.
