A rare shot of David Blaine with the ten of spades

Manhattan, New York--

Magician/street performer David Blaine pulled a single card out of a full deck today on the streets of Manhattan, New York. Blaine reportedly pulled the unopened deck of cards out of his left pants pocket. He then approached a bystander and asked her to open the box. She reportedly did as requested by Blaine. Blaine then took the deck, and pulled out a single card.

"I was absolutely astounded!", said Rachelle Ballard, the lucky particapatory audience member of Blaine's stunt. "He just came right up behind me and asked me to open his pack of cards. It's a good thing I decided to not clip my fingernails last night, otherwise that seal would have been pretty hard to break. After I opened the box, he took the cards out and then removed a card. It totally blew my mind!"

Blaine could not be reached for comment.

Blaine's most publicized stunt was his endurance test of living for 44 days in a small box suspended above London's South Bank, which took place in the fall of last year. Blaine consumed nothing but water for those 44 days, and only concealed himself from public view to use the restroom. Blaine emerged from the box surrounded by authorities, medical personelle, and journalists. He made a public statement, and began to cry profusely shortly after.

Blaine has since been very low key, and has managed to escape the public eye until now.

"I've just never seen anything like it before. It really was nothing short of magic. He let me keep the deck of cards as a souvenir. I tried to pull a card out myself and just couldn't do it.", Ms. Ballard said.

This reporter got a chance to inspect the deck of cards that was used in Blaine's stunt. All 52 cards were accounted for, including two joker cards, and three cards that listed playing instructions for Rummy, Poker, and Black Jack.

Blaine's most astounding trick is most probably his levitation technique, in which he stands upright with his back to an audience of 3-5 people. He then extends his arms, and gravitates his body completely off the ground for a short period of time. His close-up street magic has earned him numerous television specials.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
