(Hollywood, CA): Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield of The Righteous Brothers, whose 1965 hit Unchained Melody was used in the 1990 movie blockbuster Ghost starring Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze, are to get back together again in the wake of Swayze's death - even though Hatfield is already dead!
Bob 'Bobby' Hatfield died of a cocaine-induced heart attack on 5th November 2003, but Medley's agents have pointed-out that, in Ghost, Swayze returns to visit his still-living love Molly after he has been murdered, and that there should be no reason why Medley and Hatfield should not also be reunited - particularly as another million-or-so sales of Unchained Melody would provide a welcome and substantial boost to royalties.
The pair originally split in 1968, with Medley replacing Hatfield with Virgil Beckham, the father of former Manchester United and England footballer, David Beckham, but the two remained chillingly-close friends until Hatfield's untimely death.
Medley, now 69, currently performs at Andy Williams Moon River Theater in Branson, Missouri. He told us:
"Whooooooooooaaaaaa! My looooooove, my darling,
I hunger for your touch,
Alone. Lonely time.
And time goes by, so slooooooowwly,
And time can do so much,
Are you still miiiii-hi-hi-hi-hiiiiiiiiiiiiine?
I neeeeeee-he-eeeed your love.
I neeeeeee-he-eeeed your love.
God speed your love to me.
Lonely rivers flow to the sea, to the sea,
To the open arms of the sea.
Lonely rivers sigh, wait for me, wait for me,
I'll be coming home, wait for meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Whooooooooooaaaaaa! My looooooove, my darling,
I hunger, hunger!, for your love,
For love. Lonely time.
And tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime goes byyyyyyy, so slooooooowwly,
And time can do so much,
Are you still miiiii-hi-hi-hi-hiiiiiiiiiiiiiine?
I neeeeeee-he-eeeed your love.
I neeeeeee-he-eeeed your love.
God speed your love to meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee."
