NASHVILLE, TN - Singer-songwriter LeAnn Rimes announced on Tuesday that she's divorcing her husband... um... uh... just give me a second here... Oh, yeah, Dean. Dean Sheremet.
"After much thoughtful consideration, Dan and I have agreed to move forward with dissolving our marriage," Rimes told reporters.
"Don't you mean 'Dean?'" she was asked.
"I'm sorry?" queried Rimes.
"Your husband," replied the reporter. "Isn't his name 'Dean?'"
"Oh, yes, yes! Of course it is," said Rimes. "Me and ol' what's-his-name made this decision as caring friends with a healthy respect for each other," she added.
She indicated she had instantly fallen in love with "that backup dancer guy," Sheremet, when he danced at a 2001 country music awards show she hosted. "I was so sure Don and I... that Dean and I were meant for each other. It's really a shame it turned out this way."
The couple have been separated since July, but Rimes indicated that, as the parting is amicable, they intend to stay on "a first-name basis."
