Britney Spears is in the early stages of recording a country album in Texas, a project slated for a 2010 release via Jive Records.
Spears said she had always wanted to make a country album, but was waiting until the right time.
"I think there is a strength in female country artists," Spears said, citing Jessica Simpson, Billy Ray Cyrus, Pink, Beyoncé and Hilary Duff as some of her inspirations.
She said she would be involved in the creative process.
"Writing is really hard, I never wrote a song by myself- I got people to help me cos I suck in grammar" she said. "It's like I wanna tell a plot but don't know how to!"
Spears' last album, "Circus", was very successful; she said she will be filming a romcom movie called "Diapers In Bed" with Dan Balan in November 2009.
