Friends of the Oscar winner have told several reporters that Mel Gibson has been drinking heavily again and when he drinks, he becomes Mr. Hyde.
After hearing rumors around Hollywood, Mel's new girlfriend reportedly told a friend of Mel's that she was having problems with Gibson after he drinks. Since she is also rumored to be pregnant with Gibson's child, Oksana Grigorieva, claims that with the alcohol "he gets completely out of control and that she's afraid of what might happen he her and the baby."
That was when the rehab information began circling.
Apparently with the pregnancy, a huge settlement for his ex-wife of 28 years, Robyn, and another lawsuit just settled, Gibson couldn't handle it all and fled back to the bottle.
"The guy really needs help", stated the friend. "He's been more than a little out of control lately plus his attorneys have just settled a lawsuit with Benedict Fitzgerald over Fitzgerald claiming he was underpaid for a previous movie Gibson directed and financed. So it's no wonder he's out of it."
"And when he's drinking, even I don't want to be around him! He turns into another person altogether. So if the rumor about rehab is true, it's the best thing for him. He's been through AA and has thoroughly supported that organization."
