The Grammy-winning singer claims Barbara Houston still owes her the money over the stepmother's countersuit toward her original suit for failing to make payments on the Fort Lee, N.J., condominium where she has lived since 1987.
Barbara, not Whitney.
Barbara Houston initiated the legal tussle last year when she launched a countersuit that claimed the 45-year-old singer improperly kept proceeds from John Houston's $1 million insurance policy after he died in 2003.
The countersuit was in answer to Whitney's original countersuit.
Barbara Houston claimed the singer was supposed to subtract $723,000 from the suit that was countersuited originally over the insurance settlement to provide her stepmother with a clear title.
The singer, Whitney, says she provided her father with a mortgage loan to purchase the condo and was still owed most of the principal and all the interest when he died, many say on purpose, to get away from those two.
However, two of those people who were openly saying this have both been sued by Barbara, then by Whitney to recover any lawsuit money settled on Barbara from suing the two who made the remarks about her dad/husband, may he rest in peace.
