Australia hates Australia - That is the news coming from the Antipodes this morning, or this evening, depending on where you are in the world.
The Australia being talked about though, is the movie by Baz Luhrmann, a sprawling mess of a movie to which residents of the southern hemisphere continent have reacted angrily.
One movie fan who thought the film wasn't very good, was Bruce Skippy, of Melbourne. He said:
"It's too dusty. An' dry. I was bladdy parched!"
In Tasmania, cinemagoers were no less upset with the offering. Many had queued outside one movie house for more than 10 minutes to see the celluloid depiction of their short history played out on screen.
Dwayne Warble, 12, said:
"It's so bladdy hot, mate! It's too big an' long an' that. An' all the bladdy 'roos - wod a pisser! Y'barstards!"
