Oscar winner Sean Penn is trading in the drama for some serious laughter (and a few eye pokes) in his next big screen role.
Penn will star in "The Three Stooges," a representative for MGM has confirmed to Access Hollywood.
He will play "Stooge" Larry Fine, while Jim Carrey is in talks to play Jerome "Curly" Howard, the representative revealed. Rumor is, he's already said, "Soitenly Woo Woo Woo!"
"I'll look like a cross between Art Garfunkle and Bozo", Penn reportedly told Access.
In addition, producers are eyeing Benicio del Toro to step into the role of Moe. If not, they'll have to "Pick Two".
The Farrelly brothers ("Fever Pitch," "Stuck On You," "There's Something About Mary", "Bride Of Fatty Arbuckle") will direct the comedy, which is slated to begin shooting, slapping, pie-facing this fall.
Described as "a Three Stooges film set in the present day," the film will chronicle how the legendary comedic trio came together and nearly killed each other making short films.
