JK Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series, announced today that she has started a series of "sleazy romance" novels and hopes they become as popular as Harry Potter.
"Now that I have made a billion dollars I can start writing things that I truly enjoy", Rowling said in an unusually candid interview. "I have always enjoyed the occasional bedside ladies porn, as have many ladies. I hope this will take the romance novel off the shit list of most readers".
Rowling's latest novel features a character named "Missy" who will travel the world in search of love. The first novel involves Missy in a sex triangle with a US Army General and a German Sheppard. The rest of the book will remain secret until is published but Ms Rowling assures us, "girls, and even some guys, are gonna love it".
Research has shown that many women secretly read romance novels as a precursor or a substitute for sex, much the way men read porn. Publishers says that Rowling has tapped into a very lucrative market.
Romance novelists Jennifer Blake and Barbara Cartland welcomed Rowling into the romance novel arena.
"Maybe we'll have a contest to see who can write the steamiest", Cartland said with some excitement.
Larry Flynt, publisher of Hustler Magazine, says he will offer first dibs on producing a screenplay from Rowling's first novel.
