Los Angeles, Ca - (Farcial Mess): Singer Britney Spears has vowed to celebrate the first anniversary of the TheSpoof.com's Rehab Lice Ate My Extensions story with a pilgrimage to the hairdressing salon which lent her the shears.
"Tomorrow marks exactly one year since the Spoof website fooled the world's media with that gag," Britney Shears told reporters outside her Studio City home.
"The story was picked up on 19 February by the UK's ITN News which ran the item as a bona fide story," Brit chuckled, "before all hell broke loose, that is."
Spears, 26, was referring to the TheSpoof.com story broadcast as the real reason she sheared off her hair extensions while facing tricky drug-testing in the divorce courts after husband K-Fed sought to have her declared an unfit mother.
TheSpoof.com article was hurriedly picked up by the UK tabloids who ran the story in the Daily Mail, the Evening Standard and over 100 syndicated newspaper columns worldwide. Plus more than 1,000 web and blogsites who went along with TheSpoof.com without so much as checking the source of the original story.
At her PC keyboard today Spoof writer Queen Mudder said:
"**!!###!!***@ing Hell! What took ya so long, Brit?"
