I caught up to CBS anchorman Dan Rather outside his studio in New York. Wearing a dark grey suit and tie, he looked every inch the respected journalist he is.
Spoof: Mr. Rather, thank you so much for agreeing to do this interview. Landing you for my first feature is key to the success of my new newspaper series, "Face the Spoof."'
Rather: Who are you? He looks behind him. Security?!
Spoof: Let's get right to the meat of this. My readers want to know more about the real Dan Rather. Tell me, are you and Peter Jennings good friends?
Rather: Glances at his watch. Look, I'm still not sure who you are, but I really have to get going. I'm late for my interview with Democratic Presidential nominee, John Kerry.
Spoof: Thank you for your time, Mr. Rather. I hope we can do this again soon.
I handed him my business card, but he forgot to take it in his rush to get to the next interview. In conclusion, Dan Rather is a very complicated, multi-faceted man. And he's interviewing John Kerry.
Coming soon on "Face the Spoof," I catch up with actor Russell Crowe.
