Britney Spears did not "hook up" with Ryan Phillippe, according to her publicist, Leslie Sloane: "The gossip columnists were just plain wrong."
The confusion arose out of a bad haircut. Britney was actually with Ellen DeGeneres, who had her hair done by a new stylist a few days earlier. DeGeneres used to go the same stylist who does John Edwards' hair, but she was tired of paying so much and tried someone who only charges $500. "You get what you pay for," said DeGeneres' spokesperson Michelle Gross.
At first the incident raised concerns about DeGeneres' long-term relationship with Portia de Rossi, but apparently de Rossi is not upset, saying: "Maybe next time she'll bring Britney back to our place." Sloane indicated that Spears might make an appearance on Ellen's show. Gross suggested that the threesome may also make an appearance on the Dr. Phil show. Dr. Phil said he couldn't comment because the vaseline made it hard to hold the phone.
