Ken Burns' amnesia keeps haunting his otherwise excellent documentaries. This time he has omitted all reference to the thousands of Latin Americans who risked and sometimes lost their lives in the Second Great War. This, of course, is not the first time these lapses of memory have occurred.
His classic study of jazz unexplicably omitted African-Americans and his award-winning story of baseball left out the bats!
Burns has always been apologetic for his missteps and this time he even announced his apology in espanol: "Lo siento muchissimo!" Burns has promised to correct his errors in his next documentary. the working title: "Baseball with Bats, Jazz with Black notes and Hispanics in Tanks!" hopes to correct the forgotten (by Burns) history of baseball bats, blacks and latinos. Also on the drawing board is a project tentatively called: Ken Burns'Amnesia: The Hair in the Ointment.
