"I just can't leave it alone and its even worse when I'm bored" Bruce Forsyth told a delegation of International Television Producers yesterday. He was referring of course to Strictly Come Dancing and not his Dick. Bruce is very fond of Dick, his Cocker Spaniel who has won several Crofts competitions.
The sprightly 56 year old is not an octagenarian as most people think, having lied about his age to get around performing rules in 1908. Bruce is widely regarded as one of the best ever comperes who can accomplish the underrated and mostly forgotten skill of holding a show together and wrapping audiences of all generations around his little finger.
Tap dancing Bruce told our showbiz reporter, "Popping up each week to compere the show is my retirement hobby along with stroking my Dick (his tap dancing dog)".
