It's official. Apple has announced that the new iPhone 5G, originally due out in June 2011, will make its way to store shelves in time for Christmas. And, the best news of all, you won't need a cellular phone contract to use it.
Instead, Apple is teaming up with Virgin Mobile to offer the iPhone 5G contract free. This means you can pick up one of these phones at any Apple, Virgin or Wal-Mart store, buy $20 or $30 worth of minutes and you are on your way.
Of course, if you want all the other applications the iPhone 5G offers, including data, voice and text plans, you will have to sign a 5-year contract which, unfortunately, does not carry over to the iPhone 6G, which will be due out in March of 2011.
All in all though, it is everything and more that you would expect from Apple and from Virgin, the world's top Two technological titans.
