Ford Motor Company today announced it will introduce an all-new 16.0-liter V-14 diesel engine and a heavy-duty 15-speed automatic transmission beginning in early 2011 for its all-new X-Series Super Duty tandem-axle pickup, Ford Exhibition and Ford Exaggeration sport-utility vehicles.
The new, more powerful, cleaner 16.0-liter Power Stroke® Diesel and new 15-speed Shaftmaster® automatic transmission will combine to make a best-in-class 1325 horsepower at 1,300 rpm and 1550 foot-pounds of torque at 200 rpm.
The new diesel will offer improved fuel-usage, with some models getting up to 12.5 gallons per mile (GPM).
The new Ford Exhibition seats 23 people in six-row seating while the updated Ford Exaggeration seats 47 people in a double-decker form factor.
"American housewives are getting larger and are demanding more power, firmer seats, bigger doors, and expanded capacity" said Dave Szczupak, vice president, Backside Operations, Ford Motor Company. "By combining best-in-class seat-cushions, fuel capacity (400 gallons), passenger-count, we are delivering the package that our customers, British Petroleum and Exxon want."
