Wasp Dignity, the Buxted, Sussex company behind funerals for dead wasps, is the latest victim of the credit crunch.
Says Managing Director Gordon Honeycombe; "There just isn't the demand there used to be. We were doing over 100 wasp funerals a week in 2007, but we are 35% down in the last 6 months". The firm have called in recievers this week.
Typical of firms facing deep financial woes are Wilson's Hair Tidyness Solutions, who have been making snoods and hairnets in a tiny factory also in Buxted, Sussex for over 150 years.
Unable to get funds from their bank for expansion into the lucrative hat market, and with demand for snoods at an all-time low, the factory may have to close soon.
"We have also recently been plagued by swarms of wasps" explained CEO John Hatt.
