HARLEM, New York - Willie Guy Washington and his cousin, Tatakeena Montrose, are asking the Quaker Oats company, which manufactures Aunt Jemima pancake mix, for $2.7 billion in reparations.
Washington said that his great, great, great grandmother, Jemima Sackowitz, was never paid a penny by the company for using her likeness on billions and billions of pancake mix boxes.
Willie went on to say that his aunt lived in a 700-square foot efficiency, with a one-burner stove where she used to make her pancakes, 14 hours a day, 7 days a week.
He said that he was told by a relative that she sang as she made her pancakes, and her neighbors referred to her as 'the Beyonce of Harlem'.
Willie Washington says that when he gets the money, he promises to give $2,000 to the Black Lives Matter movement, $1,000 to the Pink Lives Matter movement, and $500,000 to the Joe Biden Presidential Campaign Fund.
