EAST LOS ANGELES - Representatives of The General Pancho Villa Tequila Company of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico have met with U.S. representatives of The Left Coast Alcohol Alliance about importing tequila from Mexico.
LCAA spokesperson Troy McTizzy, 32, stated that his agency has been trying to work out a tequila importation deal for the past two years.
He noted that part of the stumbling block was the fact that Mexico wanted the bottles, corks, and labels to continue to be made in Mexico.
The LCAA however, wanted to ship the items down to Cabo San Lucas from a factory in East Los Angeles.
The two groups finally agreed that the bottles, corks, and labels would be manufactured in Mexico and shipped to the U.S. and the tequila would be bottled in East Los Angeles.
The executives with The General Pancho Villa Tequila Company say that their tequila advertising spokeswoman Paulina Rubio, 43, will be replaced by Eva Longoria, 38.
SIDENOTE: The advertising director for General Pancho Villa Tequila stated that Miss Longoria will appear in television commercials wearing a blue sombrero, white sandals, a red skimpy halter top, and green short shorts which represent the colors of the flags of the United States and Mexico.
