I stated: That I believe history has diminished as a factor in the formulation of British foreign policy in recent years and needs to be re-emphasised.

Of course Bartholomew Utterswaithe from Nottingham got in with an email like a shot:

"Does Hague mean using gun-ships, taking slaves, bombing cities? Or declaring war on more countries?"
