Last March, US secretary of state Hillary Clinton and myself both gave dire warnings of the situation in Syria as the UN Security Council met in New York.

Troops loyal to the regime are now turning their attention to Idlib after clearing rebels out of the city of Homs in a conflict that has already seen 7,500 people killed according to the UN.

This is of the greatest concern to me and my department!
