District 1 House candidate Paul Brown claimed a high-profile supporter at the North Pole Mall Tuesday night - Santa Claus.

During News-Miner exit polling, a man identifying himself as Santa - complete with a bushy white beard and red suspenders - said he'd voted for Brown. "Mrs. Claus" said she'd done the same.

"He's a very fine gentleman," he said.

Santa - the man stuck only with that moniker, saying that's the name everyone knows him by - works, naturally, at Santa Claus House. Brown is the manager at the well-known North Pole business.

Ha ha!
