Projected national share of the local elections vote, according to the BBC is: Labour are on 39% (up 3% on last year), the Conservatives 31% (down 4%), Lib Dems 16% (no change), others 14%, at the time of my writing this entry.

Overall this has been a night of two halves for us Liberal Democrats, we are clinging on in the south against the Tories but suffering badly in the north of the country.
We are being wiped out in the north-west.
"If we start to see our local government base wiped out in certain places it's very hard to recover from that, not just in terms of local elections but in terms of winning parliamentary seats!"

Still, it might be looking bad, but not critical... I hope!
