Napoleon - My Fake Diary
Monday, 13 August 2012
I was so passionate about Australia that one of my first acts when becoming First Consul in the wake of the French Revolution and the Reign of Terror was to sanction Nicolas Baudin to lead an expedition to the great southern land.
During this epic voyage, Baudin travelled up the WA coast in the Geographe and the Naturaliste (hence the Gallic names from your favourite holiday region) and then made my way to present-day Victoria, mapped its coast and named it Napoleon Terre.
If I had not been defeated at Waterloo, the country might have remained Napoleon Land and you could have been eating croissants and cafe au lait for breakfast instead of discusting ham and eggs!
Thought I'd just mention this while I'm down haunting...
