Napoleon - My Fake Diary
Thursday, 16 August 2012
Haunting away today, I discovered:
An Antonio Stradivari violin that I owned, before being passing to my favourite general, Count Gabriel-Jean-Joseph Molitor, has been found in Ireland.
The 'Molitor' stayed in the Count's family until the end of the First World War. After a brief spell at Philadelphia's Curtis Music Institute, it was brought to Somerset.
Sold for £2.4m in 2010, the 'Londonderry Stradivarius' was once the world's most valuable musical instrument, and is up for sale again.
£2.4m? Mon dieu!
