John Prescott - My Fake Diary

Excellent letter in the Telegraph:
"We talk and write of Florence and Copenhagen, not Firenze or København. It is different when a city's name is actively changed (Harare for Salisbury), though even then locals still often stick to the familiar old name (Bombay, Saigon).
The absurdity was highlighted by John Prescott who, a few years ago, spoke of his enjoyment of Peking duck, while on a visit to Beijing. I suspect his lordship, being of an older generation, at least knew that they were one and the same place."
I didn't... but it's the food I'm more interested in!
