Ken Clarke is digging in his heels over my efforts to shift him from his post as Justice Secretary - me a major headache ahead of my planned cabinet reshuffle.

Shifting Mr Clarke, who at 72 has had a long political career including stints as chancellor and home secretary under John Major, is key to the wide-scale reshuffle I've planned.

Could be awkward this one…
