I held a private 'clear the air' dinner in Downing Street with Nick Clegg a fortnight ago, to try to patch up the Coalition feud over reform of the House of Lords and parliamentary boundary changes.

We agreed to stop squabbling and focus on the economy instead before we both went on holiday, leaving Foreign Secretary William Hague to run the country.
