I told the newly-elected French President François Hollande, that I'd "roll out the red carpet" for any French businesses and individuals who might prefer to pay Britain's newly reduced 45% upper rate of tax.

And why not?

Today, there are more than 1900 French companies and subsidiaries of French companies set up in the UK!

Employing about 360,000 people. Sodexho, Peugeot, Renault, Citroen, British Gas, Severn Trent Water, Body Shop, and British Energy are all French owned!

Oh, that came out wrong!
