Barack Obama, the US president offered me the use of his bed on the the Air Force One plane when we returned to Washington after watching a basketball game in Dayton, Ohio, on the first day of my visit to the US.

On the way back, it was about 4am UK time, he said to me: "David, why don't you use my bed and put your feet up!"

I must remember to keep him away from William Hague!
