Boris Johnson - My Fake Diary
Wednesday, 5 September 2012
Employment minister Chris Grayling and I recently announced a new initiative that they claim will help unemployed young people get into work.
Under a pilot scheme, all 18-24 year olds receiving Jobseekers' Allowance in London who have previously completed fewer than six months' paid work will have to undertake a 13-week placement consisting of work experience plus applications advice.
Graduates obliged to take part in the scheme will be referred from their Jobcentre to a government provider (for example a private sector company or a charity) that will be responsible for finding them a work placement and providing applications advice.
Thank God they didn't do this when I was young...
