The Government has taken on a new economic adviser to help guide them through the choppy waters of the current economic recession. Ebenezer Scrooge - who made his name as a fictional character in Charles Dickens's much loved story "A Christmas Carol" - is set to become an economic adviser to the Treasury.
David Cameron said he was very excited about the appointment. "Mr Scrooge has a wealth of experience in making unpopular economic decisions, involving hardship and misery for the poor and most needy. This is exactly the type of attitude we need."
Nick Clegg was allowed out of the kennel that David Cameron has had built for him in the gardens of 10 Downing Street - and said (with a husky voice as the choke chain apparently makes it difficult for him to breathe):
"This is an era of new politics. Using the skills of fictional, Victorian characters is just one more example of how the coalition - or Christmas carolition - is seeking to re-write the old ways of doing things." At which point David Cameron clicked his fingers and pointed towards the kennel.
Before going back to his new doggy home, Clegg turned to the reporters and said: "God bless us, every one"
