In a dramatic new twist to the British phone hacking saga, American hockey mom and former Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin has accused respected Internet tabloid paper the Spoof of hacking her mobile phone. Well, she actually said "cell" phone but that's because Americans have problems pronouncing "mobile".
She claims that the Spoof has published dozens of articles about her in recent weeks which paint her in a bad light, including "Sarah Palin to buy Smart Car", "Sarah Palin Explains Why She Hates The Smurfs" and "Palin Blames Dismal Movie Debut on Witchcraft and Harry Potter". She denounced these articles as un-American and claims that they suggest she is a complete moron.
"The only way that they could have discovered that I am a moron is if they hacked my phone", she claims. "They must have listened in on all my dumb conversations with people and discovered what a complete goofball I am."
Mrs Palin admitted that she first encountered the Spoof website when she was researching on a planned anti-homosexual campaign and kept mis-typing the search parameter. As a result, she found the Spoof, which she had never heard of before, read some of the articles about President Obama and found that she agreed with them. She even thought about contributing an article herself about hunting or Alaska or how close she lives to Russia. However, it was when one of her single-mom daughters found the articles about her that the pro-family Republican became angry.
The Spoof issued a general denial, adding "We are a satirical website, our stories are not supposed to be genuine."
Responding on her Facebook page, Mrs Palin wrote "What the heck has a mythical Greek woodland creature got to do with this?"
