(Published 2014) EDINBURGH - A referendum by the Scottish National Party (SNP) has found out that 70% of Scotland want to become independent from the United Kingdom.
However, Scotland has been fast-tracked to join the European Union (EU), and will adopt the Euro(€)/European Economic Zone and the metric system.
It has also been recognised as an independent nation by the United Nations Organisation (UN) where it has been given a seat, .sct internet code, and +448 calling code.
"It is an amazing day," said Alex Salmond, Premier of the Nation of Scotland, "we can become our own nation, and not listen to the English."
How have those in the UK reacted?
"Scotland...?" asked one, "nice place. Don't give a damn really."
Scotland will be part of the Commonwealth, and still have the Queen as a monarch.
As of press time, a British man being pushed over the Anglo-Scot border is in jail for not having a passport or form of ID.
