Following reports that an Afghan warlord burned toast in a public ceremony in Kandahar province, farmers in Bertrand, Nebraska have reacted strongly by vandalising an Afghan poppy stall in the city's downtown area.

Nebraska is the biggest grain producer in the States and the wheat industry is the lifeblood of the state's economy.

Any deliberate wastage of the product is regarded as "tantamount to treason in the Mid West and grain producers are incensed by the shameless act of destruction of a valuable food staple", so said Arnold Wittermeier, Chairman of the Nebraskan Grain Foundation.

Wittermeier claims that, should such actions be repeated, other Afghan stalls selling rugs and fruit will be similarly targeted and that "any country that abuses bread will have Nebraskans to deal with".

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
