DENMARK - Violent street protests unexpectedly turned into an outdoor love-fest, when police launched what they thought were tear-gas canisters into the unruly mobs.
Because of a mix-up in inventory, the canisters spewed aphrodisiac gas instead.
'In an instant, all controversies were set aside in favor of coupling on the frozen streets and sidewalks', said Police Commissioner Ole Snarkkvarrdsen.
'Unfortunately, the wind blew some of the gas back among the ranks of police', he added. 'They quickly joined the protesters, under the watchful gaze of television cameras, and we worry that their wives will not understand.'
'We're also preparing for an outbreak of lice among the officers', he added.
When the aphrodisiac wore off, hundreds of protesters and police were taken to local hospitals for treatment of frostbite.
'This is Denmark, so we're used to treating frostbite', said Dr. Snuggarrdd Hannuffssonn at the emergency clinic. 'However, we're not used to treating frostbite on the body parts which have been most affected in this incident.'
