A local man has been found guilty of a drug induced shooting spree in Tokyo.

Asoko Nakamoto was found guilty of shooting 17 people whilst under the influence of LSD, guilty of possession of the drug, but acquitted of taking it.

Judge Yoshi Kamaguchi admitted he could understand why some people were baffled at the verdict but cited recent precedents, particularly the Lucie Blackman case, in which Joji Obara was found guilty of abducting the British hostess and of dismembering her body, but acquitted of killing her.

Nakamoto was also at pains to point out that although he was fully qualified, had sat through the case and passed sentence, he was not actually the judge.
