The explosion that devastated the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad at the weekend, is thought not to have been the work of Islamic Fundamentalists, but the result of "a really bad curry".
The hotel was badly damaged in the blast, which left a 20-foot crater in the car park outside, seriously disrupting a market due to be held there today.
Police in Islamabad have today been searching through the debris, and have uncovered 'bits of evidence' which, they say, suggests that a local man who had just eaten a dodgy lentil curry near the scene on Saturday evening may have been responsible.
Salim Wasim, 27, devoured a 'meat and lentil curry' at about 7.30pm local time on Saturday evening, and immediately complained to friends of feeling "unwell".
He left the place where they were eating and staggered back in the direction of his hovel, situated just 100 metres from the Marriott. He hasn't been seen since.
Police Sergeant Hassan Rasheed said:
"It's not uncommon that a dodgy curry can be eaten here, especially after the rains have receded, but this would have to be the dodgiest curry of its kind eaten in Pakistan for many months."
Pakistan is a very dangerous place. Just ask Bob Woolmer.
