Beijing - (Seismic Mess): The Chinese Olympics are in serious doubt today after oil suddenly began gushing out of a fissure in the newly erected Beijing Bird's Nest Stadium following 7.8 magnitude tremor thousands of miles away in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.
The crude industry has always denied that seismic activity can alter subterranean deposits. But today's Beijing gusher appears to be irrevocably connected to the emerging disaster in South West China.
Olympic officials are now frantically assessing the situation.
The August Games were predicted to bring China over $30 billion in foreign revenue, whereas by lunchtime today over $5 billion in marker crude had already filled the Olympic site.
A decision on pulling the plug is expected imminently.
