Erith Kent - Production workers at a viagra factory in Kent have called in the Health and Safety Executive after noticing side effects of handling the drug. The factory at Biggar Muchley, near Maidstone, has ceased production.
Mildred Mason, 51, said "I have been working here for two and a half years. I first noticed something was wrong a month ago. My fingers and hands were getting stiff. I thought it may be arthritis but a visit to my doctor and then hospital tests explained what it was."
Almost all of the production workers have been affected. Other symptoms include stiffening of joints, swollen tongues and hair standing on end.
Factory owner, Ivor Littlejohn told me that if it helped he would be willing to join the workers on the factory floor.
Mrs Littlejohn doubted that this would satisfy the mainly female workforce.
A spokesman for the H.S.E said the situation would be rigidly examined.
