French citizens erupted in traditional rebellion today, in celebration of the period of annual unrest. Thousands of men, women and children poured onto the streets and began the festivities with the usual barrage of broken bottles, bullets and burning cars.
It was the police that signalled the beginning of the party with a celebratory slaughter of innocent civilians, and soon the cities were ablaze in ritual carnage.
"We've looked forward to this all year," One Parisian women grinned, "The kiddies have been saving up their firecrackers and cherry bombs for the occasion."
The French President Nicholas Sarkozy took part in the celebrations, smiling to the cameras as he ordered several innocent protestors to years solitary confinement.
"Enjoy the riots," He told the press, "But remember not to let it spill over into gratuitous revolution."
