In a surprise move today Denmark has given Russia one week to move off the North Pole and get it's grubby paws off the mineral rights there. Denmark issued that warning, if they don't comply its war!
Russia recently sent a mini submarine to the continental shelf of Antarctica and planted a flag claiming the rights to all the minerals on the continent. Russia claims that Antarctica shares the same continental shelf as Russia therefore its Russia's property.
Unfortunately, Canada, Alaska and Greenland border the North Pole as well so there are defiantly going to be disputes over the ownership of the territory.
"This isn't the dark ages, you can't just stick your flag in the ground and declare ownership to an entire continent, said a well known American Congressman. That would be like the North American, Western land grab in the 1800's, but it's no longer the 1800's".
Denmark controls Greenland and thus thinks it has rights over the North Pole. We have these rights and will do what we must to protect our interests said one Denmark government official.
