Manny Weinburgh's spirit lives on in spirit.

Manny Weinburg is a name that is better known in Ireland than it is in Israel, and yet Manny Weinburg is undoubtedly one of the Jewish peoples greatest heroes.

Manny was born in the Austrian village of 'Fucking' in 1888 but moved to Ireland at the age of 4 where his Father opened a small drapery shop in Dublin's main thoroughfare O'Connell street, inspired by the famous Waterford Crystal store on the other side of the street and overcome with a nostalgic homesickness for his hometown he named his new enterprise 'The Fucking Drapery'

After his subsequent arrest and fine he renamed the store 'Cleary's' the business thrived and is to this day one of Dublin's largest dept stores.

Manny enjoyed the hustle and bustle of Dublin and became firm friends with a young and fiery Corkman recently returned from London, Michael Collins who later went on to become the spearhead of Ireland's struggle for independence and the architect of the Treaty of 1921, from which modern Ireland emerged, the two became inseparable until Manny's father died at the outbreak of WWI and Manny inherited the business.

Unwilling to take on the pressure of such a large store and even more reluctant to inherit his father's Dublin nickname of 'The Fucking Austrian' Manny sold Cleary's and moved to the midlands town of Tullamore where he opened a Jewish theme bar which soon gained notoriety as the only pub in Ireland where you couldn't get a ham sandwich for love or money.

It was during the war of independence that Manny's Republican loyalties surfaced when his bar was used as a safe house for Michael Collin's hit men on the run from British forces, being Jewish and Austrian Manny was deemed above suspicion and was able to operate an intelligence operation traveling freely all over the country.

Irelands first Free State Prime Minister Eammon De Valera paid tribute to Manny at his State Funeral when he awarded him Irelands greatest honor alongside past hero's such as 'Paddy', 'Jameson', 'Bushmill' and Cooley's 'Michael Collins'

This weekend Manny's hometown will celebrate the patriotism and heroism of the man all Ireland came to know as the 'Tullamore Jew'

Shalom and Slainte.
