A recent Pew research poll puts Satirists in the category "Somewhat Respected" in terms of their professional reputation & public opinion. The survey requested feedback from the general public to compare more than fifty occupations throughout fifty countries.
Near the top of the list are Police, Firefighters and members of the Military -- followed closely by School Teachers, Architects and Engineers. Next are Political Cartoonists and Doctors, who hold a slight edge over Satirists.
Located further down the hierarchy are Patent Clerks, Plumbers, Dentists and Dogwalkers. Last and certainly least... rounding out the bottom of the perceptions-based list are Politicians, Lawyers, Tax Collectors, Used Car Dealers and Mexican Cat Jugglers.
