Popular gay tellytubby Tinky Winky today threatened to pull out of negotiations to serialise "The Tellytubbies" in Poland after officials accused him of corrupting the country's children.
A polish official today said that if Polish boys start thinking it's Ok to carry a handbag, who knows what could follow, "We would prefer Tinky Winky to be a dentist or doctor," the spokesman added, "not a homosexual."
Tinky Winky spoke today at a hastily convened press conference sporting his trademark handbag and earrings, alongside gay activist Peter Tatchell and threatened to "out" several prominent Polish politicians who he claimed had approached him in parks while he was out pushing his little vacuum cleaner.
Poland's authorities have recently set up a series of moves to outlaw the promotion of homosexuality among the nation's children.
BBC executives today described the comments by its Polish counterparts as "cultural differences".
A BBC spokesman commented, "you see in Britain, we feel that if a little boy watching the Tellytubbies prefers to play with tea-sets rather than guns, we need to provide a character that he can identify with, in Poland he would be drafted into the army at age four and if that didn't change his mind, he would be deported or shot."
