Australian Prime Minister John Howard has today hit a young aboriginal woman with his car. However, he has adamantly refused to apologize to the young woman who remains in intensive care.
This isn't the first time the PM has refused to say sorry to Aboriginals. He has still not apologized for the stolen generation of Aboriginals taken from their families, due to the fact that admitting any wrongdoing would open the government up to litigation.
And he has taken the same stance with the young woman he crippled. "Look..." said the PM "I'm not saying I'm sorry because ultimately she shouldn't have been walking on the footpath when I was drunk and driving on it. And any apology I made would only be symbolic, it's not going to bring back the use of her legs."
